Equicentral Livery

In North Cornwall

At Trelowen Farm, we offer a Full Equicentral livery service designed around what matters most: movement, health, and species-appropriate management. Set across over 70 acres of well-draining natural meadows near Bude, our system allows horses to live as horses — with space, freedom, and thoughtful management rooted in evidence-based welfare.

What Makes Us Different

Our livery is unique in that we manage our horses as a herd and they live on our Equicentral system with access to a loafing area, a large communal barn, track and rotational grazing fields.

This means that horses on site are part of a management system that has been designed fully with the horse’s natural species-specific needs in mind. We don’t run our yard as a “track system” whereby horses are normally confined to a track. Our all-weather “track” is simply designed to allow the herd to access our rotational grazing fields.

Our livery service is ideal for those that want to keep their horses in a more natural environment, whilst still having access to high-end care facilities that allow us to offer high standards of care.

In addition to our ethos and management system, we have worked hard to build into our yard some premium facilities. The result is an integrated system designed around healthy grazing, movement & land care.

  • Species-appropriate grazing
  • All-weather tracked access to field
  • All-weather large loafing area linked to our large barn
  • Rotational grazing for pasture health
  • Ad-lib, slow-fed daily forage access

Our layout encourages natural movement & grazing patterns.

Our Farm

  • Owners live on-site, ensuring constant supervision and consistent routines.
  • A quiet farm with minimal visitors, limiting stress and disruption for our horses.
  • Full livery only – we do not accept short-stay or casual liveries, reducing horses “coming and going” and helping maintain a settled herd dynamic.
  • Horses are managed together in our Equicentral system, offering 24/7 turnout on carefully designed grazing, hardstanding tracks, and a spacious communal barn.

The loafing area and track allows our herd to have access to dry hardstanding year-round. We have spent a lot of time and resources installing drainage systems that ensure that the loafing area & barn remain dry, whatever the weather.

Purpose Built Barn & Loafing Area

Our yard has been designed as a central shelter & hub for our herd, offering:

  • Purpose-Built Barn with large loafing area (over 1,200m² not including the track).
  • CCTV Security and owners on-site for constant supervision
  • Automatic Waterers
  • Car Parking
  • Non-Ridden Friendly environment – perfect for horses in rehab, retirees, or those needing low-stress living.
  • Horse-Safe Net & Electric Fencing
  • On-site FEC (Faecal Egg Count) and On-Site Hay for consistent quality.
  • Fully Lit communal barn and loafing areas for evening checks or late-night care.
  • All-weather surfaces designed for hoof health & comfort
  • Veterinary Box & Hot Wash Area *coming soon*
  • Solarium *coming soon*

The loafing area and track allows our herd to have access to dry hardstanding year-round. We have spent a lot of time and resources installing drainage systems that ensure that the loafing area & barn remain dry, whatever the weather.
